Winter is still here

As I write this entry the snow is still coming down in Calgary. I must say I'm truly sick of it all. By now I should be getting my flower beds ready. I should be prepping soil, choosing new shrubs and perennials to plant on the side of the house.. I'm so itching to do this but I simply can't. Oh well, I guess I'll get out and shovel instead.

Bob and I bought a tent trailer a few weeks ago. WE LOVE IT! Haven't used it yet. Still obviously too cold. We are planning to camp on May long weekend in Drumheller. We'll be close enough in the city that if anything goes wrong with the trailer we can get a hotel room and we thought it would be great to take the kids to the Royal Tyrell Museum. I think Jake is really getting to an age where he will notice such things as a gigantic dinosaur.

Things around the house are going well. Jacob is always doing his own thing. Mr. Independent sure doesn't like it when you tell him how to do something. Our little Katie bear has been building up quite the little attitude. When you tell her no she tries to hit you. As well, when she doesn't get her way she throws herself on the floor. A little trick she learned from her brother I'm sure. I'm starting to think that she isn't too young to have a time out at the bottom of the stairs now.

Ethan is doing awesome. Not crazy about school, as is any other normal 9 year old boy but he 's doing very well. His report card was the best I had seen. Very proud! He's still in Tae Kwon Do and loves it. Often taking extra classes when he's missed his regular ones. He's two tests away from his yellow belt. I'm sure he will get it before summer is here. (If summer ever gets here!) He's really excited about our camping plans.

Bob is doing well also. He's been working hard as usual. He hasn't really been able to get out and take some photos recently. He hasn't posted any major pictures on Flickr in a while. I really should kick him out of the house so he can get on that. He sure enjoys it.

I have been doing good too. I'll admit I'm fighting some major cabin fever. I need some sunshine and warm weather. It's really starting to take a toll on me. Over the winter I took and completed my first sewing class. I made a tote bag and tunic. Learned alot. Next up was a quilting class (Finally!) I had so much fun! I'm almost finished the quilt I chose to do. It's black and white and red. I just have to finish quilting it and sew the binding and it's done. I'll post pictures of it then. The project has been on hold for a little while because I've been working on some invitations for my sister-in-law that should be done in the next few days. I'll admit I'm itching to take out the sewing machine but I must restrain myself.

Have a happy Monday. I'll have a cold one. Here are some photos to enjoy.

The long Winter

Hi everyone!

We're doing well here. Getting a little cabin fever, need some warm sunny air soon. Oh well. In the meantime we are keeping busy. The kids are growing very well. Katie is walking everywhere now and we are getting closer to potty training Jacob. (He had some happy times on the Potty) It would be so nice to rid one child of diapers.
We keep busy by visiting the library lots, Jacob loves to run through the isles and Katie is quickly catching on. You can imagine how hard it is to chase two kids in two different directions.
Bob has been putting in lots of hours this year so he's busy with that. Ethan is continuing with his Tae Kwon Do classes and loves them. He moved up a belt to a white belt with Yellow stripe. Very exciting!

I have been busy crocheting Bob's blanket. It was a project I started early last year and it just won't end. The thing is HUGE! I don't know what I was thinking. Regardless Bob has giving me a rule. I can't pick up a new project until the blanket is done. It's a good rule because there are SO many projects I want to start but I know I can't which motivates me to get this irritating blanket out of the way. It will be my first and last blanket....ever!
On another note I started a sewing class. It's short but it will teach me all the basics. I'm very happy with it. Next is a quilting class but I still need to get that blanket out of the way!

Here are some pics of the kids. Gosh they are growing up so fast!

So yesterday we celebrated Katie's birthday. (Her birthday was actually on Tuesday) She had a cake that was shaped like a castle and she wore a cute little tutu that I found at Gymboree. She was super happy and had a great day! Jacob didn't hog the presents too much and Ethan played wii with the older kids all afternoon so he thought the birthday party was awesome! Now that the birthdays are all out of the way for the year it's back to thinking about Christmas. I'm still hard at work crocheting and sewing presents. I have a small handful left to get done. I can't believe how much crocheting I've done already. I've made a vow that next year I will only crochet for myself and buy presents next year. I feel like I've crocheted all year and have nothing to show for it. Besides next year I start quilting!!!!

Trick or Treat!

We enjoyed a beautiful evening on Halloween, and the kids were popular in their little costumes. Ethan was Indiana Jones, Jacob was a skunk, and Katie was a butterfly. Enjoy some pictures from the fun evening...
