Bob's Birthday
As for me. I'm doing really well. I'm officially 22 weeks and 4 days. I have a little bump but the doctors say I'm really healthy and the the baby is growing well. I keep thinking one day I'll open my eyes and my belly will be huge!
I can feel lots of kicks. Sometimes I can even see them. The baby is kicking my bladder too which is annoying. Our ultrasounds have been such a show. This baby will definetly be a little performer. However it teases it's daddy because whenever Bob tries to feel the kicks it will stop. I like to think that the baby feels the warmth of Bob's hand and falls right to sleep. (that might be helpful when it's born)
On Saturday we bought a crib and change table from a guy that works at the same company as Bob. It's really nice, I can't wait to finish the nursery. We had Ethan's old crib but it was dark brown and clashed with the white furniture that I'm putting in the nursery. I looked into stripping it and painting it white but it would have cost more than what it cost us to buy the crib and change table.
I've decided that the colours for the room will be a base colour of chocolate brown. This way if I have a girl I can accent with pink and if I have a boy I will accent with baby blue which both look awesome with brown. Now I'm on the lookout from some brown baby bedding.
The basement is coming well. Bob and I have finalized a floor plan and soon we'll be off to get our permit. I'm anxious to get it done so I can start setting up the nursery. Right now it is still a computer room and a rather packed storage room. Bob is feeling a little overwhelmed but I keep reminding him to look at it one step at a time. We'll get it done.
Here's a picture from the pond where we went fishing: a goose resting on it's nest of eggs (six eggs, according to some young boys fishing close by)

The Long Weekend
What a weekend. We made arrangements for Nadia's Dad to visit from Edmonton, so that he could help us lay our subfloor tiles. He has done this for his own and his girlfriend's basement, so we could count on his experience. Myself, Nadia, and her Dad began on Friday night. A few hours later and a few more beers had us going to bed earlier than expected, but had us ready to tackle the job the following morning.
The next day saw real progress, and even with many breaks plus a quick trip to Rona, we were all done by 5:30 in the afternoon. Lucky for us because our Bar-B-Q party was less than an hour from starting. Including ourselves, we had 20 people over to welcome the first weekend of Summer. Everyone had a great time and ate delicious food.Later that night, Nadia, her Dad, and myself went star gazing Northwest of Calgary. It was a nice night but some clouds set in and gave us a good reason to head home to bed.
The next day Nadia's Dad left for Edmonton, then my family arrived from Olds. Luckily, they brought the food -- fresh rainbow trout caught by my Dad. We had a relaxing day and ate another filling meal. Later we watched the Oilers successfully hunt for ducks, by pulling another win at Anaheim (GO OILERS!!!).
Today we cleaned out the basement so we could prepare for our next tasks in developing. Nadia's Mom joined us later in the after noon as we went for dinner and a movie (The Da Vinci Code). I'm not a book reader, so movies are the usual way I capture a story. This one wasn't bad, and Nadia thought it was a good adaptation.
Now, we begin our short work week. This weekend has been a nice recharge for both of us, but now I'm itching for our holiday in July. I know... I know... don't wish your life away...
Anyway, please enjoy some of our pictures from the weekend.

Busy Week
It's been a busy week at the Taylor residence. We don't have Ethan this week as he is enjoying some holiday time with his mom. This gave Bob and I a chance to catch up on some unfinished projects. Remember how I was telling you about that chest that we want to restain? Well we are one varnish coat away from finishing it but it's been very tedious. It's looks amazing and so much more mature that before. Bob is so glad we chose to do this.
Next we are going to try and empty the basement out as much as possible. Which means using my lovely mother's house for some much needed storage as well as cramming as much as we can into the computer room.
My dad is coming for a visit this weekend to help us put down subfloor in our basement. A HUGE thank you goes out to him.
For every other weekend after that we will be pouring our lives into developing our basement in preparation of the coming baby.
I think the steps to take in completing this task goes something like this.
Put down subfloor
Finalize a plan
Get permits from the City
Move duct work
Frame walls
Call in electrician
Call in VacuFlo Guys
Dry Wall
Call in Taper/Mudder
Paint two coats of Primer
Paint Nadia's beautiful chosen colours
Lay down flooring (Carpet, Lino)
Add baseboards
Add bathroom fixtures
Add fixtures (plug faceplates, light fixtures)
Extend egress outside so the basement meets code
If anyone sees anything I missed please do tell me! I have thought about this so much I'm sure I've forgotten something.

The Lost Tooth
Well, it didn't work exactly like that. Our first attempt had the string fall off Ethan's tooth. I made sure that the next knot would be much more secure. Then, Nadia walked over to the pantry. Nikki, who still hadn't been fed, rushed around the kitchen island, with a nervous Ethan in tow. He wasn't fast enough. The tooth popped out before we knew it, and now Ethan is waiting for the tooth fairy.

Ethan had a great soccer game tonight. Although he didn't score any goals, his team won the game. There was one moment when another player hit Ethan in the mouth and his tender gums began bleeding again. He got over it fairly quickly (check out the picture of when the incident happened). As you can tell by the pictures, I'm really enjoying the new camera.

Slacker
Saturday night we had a Poker Game. I came out in second place and broke even with 10 bucks. I was however 6 chips away from winning the 40 dollar pot. But that Darin nickle and dimed me and won back most of the chips until I hit the wall and called the game over.
On Sunday morning we went over to my adoptive parents house Bonnie and Ken. They made us breakfast complete with perogies (my favorite). We had a good time and Ethan kept himself busy zapping bugs with an electric fly swatter. Oh those poor ants!
Sunday afternoon we went to the Family Leisure Centre in Medicine Hat. They have a great wave pool with a swinging rope, waterslide and lazy river. Ethan had a blast. He jumped off the diving board and did a front somersault. Scared the heck out of us. He did this a few more times until he landed on his back. He claims it didn't hurt but I pretty much pulled the plug from that point on. He filled his daily quota for somersaults. Maybe next time he can get a few more in.
On Monday Bob and I went to London Drugs after work to pick up his computer which was having problems reading his memory card for his camera. When we got there they informed us of an "accident" in which the memory card got bent and they potentially lost all the pictures on it. Therfore all the great shots we took in Writing On Stone are gone! Needless to say, that's why I wasn't able to post any pictures from our weekend. London Drugs is still working on it. They are going to send the card to a specialist. Cross your fingers!

Weekend plans
Oh and I thought I should mention that anyone who would like to post comments can do so without setting up an account by choosing "Other" when asked who they are. You should be able to go right ahead and add comments at that point.
