Baby Shower

baby

On August 12th my mom hosted a baby shower for me. Lots of my friends and family showed up and everyone had a really good time.

The games were hilarious! We played one where you had to find as many small safety pins in a big bowl of rice, blindfolded. It was funny watching people pick up safety pins and put them back in the bowl because they thought it was rice.

Another game that was funny was where you take a bowl full of cottonballs and you have to transfer them to another bowl using only a wooden spoon and you had to be blindfolded. That was funny watching girls transfer empty spoonfuls thinking that they were full of cotton balls. And of course who can forget the infamous "Guess what melted chocolate bar is in the dirty diaper" game. I'm surprised Bob didn't get them all right. He even did a taste test! Gross!

I was definetly "showered" with gifts. With all the stuff I got I am fully prepared to have this baby tomorrow. I took a picture of everything layed out and it's comforting to know that I have so many loved ones who are looking out for us with thier great advice and wonderful gifts.

An extra special thank you goes out to my friend Cheryl who after saying she doesn't "do" baby showers, showed up. And after previously boycotting the games couldn't resist trying a few. I'm glad everyone had a good time and I look forward to seeing you all again when the baby is born.

Where's the Pencil?

Sorry for the belated blog entry.

Two weekends ago my dad came to town to help us frame the basement It took them close to three days but it's all done! I'm so happy. Another task off the list.

They took minimal breaks and got the job done. My job was to make sure they were eating and that thier drinks were topped off.

Speaking of drinks...If I had one for everytime they asked eachother "Where's the Pencil?"

We're Back!

So we arrived back from our vacation on Saturday. We had a great time and didn't want it to end. Here's a little re-cap.

We spent two days in Kelowna where we had a miniputt game and went to the waterslides which were soooo much fun! We also visited our favorite vineyard Quail's Gate for some dinner.

Next we were off to Vancouver where we stayed with My Great Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Joseph. We had such a great time visiting with them. While we were there we went to Capilano Bridge, Vancouver Aquarium, and the boys went to Playland which is an amusement park.

Next we took a ferry over to Victoria, where we met up with my sister-in-law and niece Jackie and Kiera. In Victoria we took in the sights, haunted walking tours, Chinatown, Fisherman's Warf, Butchart Gardens, A Bug Zoo where everyone got to hold a tarantula spider and I got to just touch it's leg and cry uncontrollably because I (Nadia) was so scared it was going to jump on my face. I was however one of the few people at the zoo who had the guts to hold a Scorpion. Funny how things like that happen? Terrified of a spider but a Scorpion...hey no problem. We also went whale watching which was breath taking!

During the week in Victoria we spent two days in a little town of 300 people called Port Renfrew. It's on the other side of Vancouver island and is famous for it's "Botanical Beach" Which is a rocky beach that at low tide reveals all these little pools of sea creatures. It was fun climbing the rocks and trying to find as many creatures as you could. There were lots of Muscles, Anenomes, Starfish and barnicles everywhere.

Before we headed back to Calgary we stopped for one more night in Kelowna to break up thetrip a little. We stayed at this resort called Manteo Resort. It had a waterslide and lots of pools and a private beach. It was a wonderful end to our trip and we'll be sure to go back there again.

We've posted some pictures of our trip on our Webshots page. Please watch the slideshow so you can read the captions of all the pictures. You can find it by clicking here.

Now that we're back in Calgary life is carrying on. We're back at work and our next big event is the arrival of our little one.

My dad is coming to town to help us frame the basement so that we can move our office downstairs and free up the nursery. My baby shower is on the 12th of August and Bob and I have started our pre-natal classes.

The baby is doing well. It's starting to run out of room in my belly and the kicks are getting harder. We don't know what it is, and we're getting really anxious to meet this child of ours. See what it looks like, what it's expressions are like and who it's going to mostly take after.

As of Thursday we've got 8 weeks left to go. The day is fast approaching and we couldn't be more excited.

I've added some more pictures of me pregnant so everyone can see how I'm growing. Please note that I think the pictures make me look bigger than I actually am.
